Abdoulkarim Soumaila

Soumaila is the former Secretary-General of the African Telecommunications Union (ATU) where he served two terms and undertook key reform activities including the coordination of African positions at world meetings, development of telecommunications and ICT in Africa, and management of the ATU’s financial resources. As such, he has the experience and gravitas to provide our clients with strategic advice, reliable commentary and a recognised voice in the region.

Soumaila spent eight years as the Director of Posts, Telecommunications and New Technologies for the Ministry of Telecommunications in his home country of Niger. Prior to this, he held the positions of Head of the Department of Telecommunications and Head of the Frequency Management Unit at the National Department of Regulation and Telecommunications.

A French and English speaker, Soumaila studied as a telecommunications engineer at the Institut National des Postes et Télécommunications (INPT) in Rabat, Morocco and received a MSc in operational telecommunications from the University of Coventry (UK).
