
Dr Simon Wilson
Senior Advisor Spectrum Regulation
Simon has worked in the world of radio spectrum since 2001 and his expertise lies in international radio spectrum management and radio regulations (ITU-R and CEPT). He has led several industry spectrum groups as well as spectrum policy development within British Telecom (“BT”), O2 and Telefónica Groups.
Simon’s professional interests are based on his most recent work with Telefónica on spectrum technology and policy – spectral efficiency, propagation and licensed vs unlicensed spectrum usage.
Prior to joining BT in 2001 Simon spent 15 years working in a variety of roles in the electronics and communications industries, including the UK electronics industry association, FEI, where he was Director of Radio and responsible for the UMTS Forum Secretariat, and IFR, where he worked in market development. Simon began his working life as an RF engineer in the Marconi Group.
The focus of Simon’s PhD thesis at Bristol University (UK) was on Dynamic Spectrum Access. He obtained a degree from Brunel University (UK).
